Precious Dust

We were at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon for a few hours and were walking out to Bright Angel Point Trail. It’s short, taking you out to a great panoramic viewpoint. My kids were at the age where they loved bouldering more than hiking, and found several spots along the trail to climb up a few rocks for a better view. After we returned to the Lodge area another visitor greeted us. He had noticed my daughter up on the rocks and took a few pics from further away. From his vantage point it looked more risky than it was. When painting the scene I included my daughter. Trying to take in the immensity of the Grand Canyon is humbling and makes you realize how small you are. I named it precious dust as a reminder to me, that as small as we are, and even though we are only on this planet for a short time, God calls us precious.
